Default '68 vent behind my head

I've got vents behind my head blowing cold air at me. Probably nice in summer... Is that part of astro ventilation? How do I make it stop for cool weather?

Hi t,
Since you say "behind your head" I'm thinking it's up high on the side trim panel.
Could it be that your car has a rear window defroster and it's running all the time?
There should be a **** on the side of the console, (near your right calf), that turns it off.
Maybe?
Regards,
Alan

Only ***** are the sliders for temp/vent. This vent is on door pillar just behind drivers and passengers heads. It could be a side window defroster.

Hi t,
If it's not the rear window defroster it's something that a previous owner added to the car.

Alan

Please post a pick of your vents. They sound like something added by a PO.

the vent location is where your pic shows it. There has been a lot of wiring work done and stuff 'hidden' by removal and re-installation of console and dash. That switch probably should be there, not sure exactly where it should be originally. I'd bet its jammed under the dash or console.

Ive always been curious, what is so offensive about the word k n o b that it has to be blanked out on this forum. Come on people, how far are your minds in the gutter that a very innocent and technical term for a device used to turn on/off an electrical switch is considered offensive?

The op in his title used a word that is just as offensive, if you are going to look at it that way.

Now back to your regularly scheduled corvette talk.

Hi brb,
I'm seeing "the words"….and I'm not offended.
Should I be?

Alan

Previous owner cut up the plastic and put a later model vent in. What a k ***. No way to 'turn it off' of course so I've taped it until summer comes back. Note the wonderful huge wood screws, why does every horrible adulteration on a corvette have to include huge wood screws?

Somewhere there's a screen door with 2 screws missing from one of it's hinges.

More curious, I was fiddling around and had drivers kick panel off, there was a three prong socket. Testing away, put power to one and a fan in the back of the car started up. Sho' nuf my '68 a/c car has the wiring and fan for rear defog.

Fan blows like crazy, no air comes out of anywhere, what would I need to do for restoration of the rest of the defogger system for rear?

The Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM) will help. It shows the factory installation and has a parts list.
