Default C3 Oil pan

I built a motor around a 1976 4bolt main truck block for my 1980 vette. When I went to install the original vette oil pan it didn't fit. Dip stick goes through the pan on the original vette pan. It goes through the block on the truck block. Does anyone know of a pan to fit this engine
swap??

Dig the plug out of the left side hole and use the common left side dipstick? They are probably both 4 qt. pans. Left or right, the oil level won't care.
Or am I misreading and the pan physically won't fit? You may just need a 1976 year model pan.

Generally, the 80 and later oil pans, are not compatible with 79 and earlier blocks.

The earlier blocks use a left (driver's) side dipstick that goes into the block, while the 80 up pans have the dipstick on the right side of the engine. I think you'll need to find a 63-79 pan, to work with your 76 block.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered a 1976 SBC oil pan for a '76 vette.
