Default 72 vette frame on resto

Ok. Looking for input on removing Undecoating from my 72 Vette, FRAME ON resto project.
All info is always appreciated.

Are you asking about aftermarket undercoating.....? I don't think the factory put much undercoating at all on the frames in 72....They did add some to the inside of the fender wells.

It may help to post pics of the frame to see what undercoating your are going to remove.

Hi D,
I agree with Wee that during the 68-72 model years St.Louis made no effort to apply any undercoating to the frame or any chassis/running gear parts.

The 'sound deadening' was VERY sparingly applied to only few areas of the wheel wells.

Undercoating on the frame was likely applied by the dealer or at some later point in the car's life.

People have had success using plastic paint scrapers and kerosene (as a solvent) to remove undercoating on the frame. It's a MESSY procedure!
When removing the sound deadening from the wheel wells…if you do that... be careful that you don't damage the fiberglass surface under the deadening material.
