I am replacing the t top weather strips on my 78 fiberglass t tops. The screws that hold the weather strip in place above the window are fighting me. The backing nuts are spinning. What are you guys doing to fix this? Thanks for any help. I was able to remove two of the four screws.

can you post a picture of the area that has these screws with nuts?

This is one of four screens that holds the weatherstrip to the t top. Seals the side window to the t top. Thank you for replying to my thread.

That piece of trim can be removed by removing the other Phillips head screws by them.

Take that trim off and you can then get to the stove nuts and get the machine screws out....then re-install the trim when completed.

I have had to do this more times than I care to remember.

When you are re-installing the trim....you will more than likely need to get some 3M strip caulk or use a non-hardening sealer so that the water that runs down your T-top...it will NOT wick under it and then drip on the inside of the car when washing it or driving it in the rain. Not a big deal..but needs to be done.

Keep an eye on that small piece of trim that joins the front trim to the side. You might be able to wiggle the side trim of without messing with that small piece of trim....if not...drill out the rivet that I believe holds it in place...or you might be lucky and it is held in by another screw.
