Default Driver side door mirror installation

I've 73, When i got the car, Bubba had a drywall screw holding the driver side door mirror on, Just one. If that wasn't bad enough. It was to long and scored the window,
So with that being said. I'm going to order a passenger side mirror,
will the template be the same
Or is the driver side mirror mounting different.

The driver side mirror was held in place by a bracket inside the door. There was a good write up about this a few weeks back on how to replace the bracket. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...placement.html

Since you already have the bracket inside the door you could drill it out and possibly us a Heli coil to replace the threads, or you could drill the holes out to 3/8" where the original bracket is and use the expander (well) nuts from the passenger side mirror mounting kit. The well nuts are not a standard size well nut too.. They are 3/8" but they have a very thin top to them vs the ones you'll find at your hardware store. If you decide to fish a new bracket into the door, I have a mid year bracket in stock that works great for this.
