Default power steering control valve

Hello everyone, my question is this, has anyone had any luck either good or bad with using a power steering conditioner or stop leak product for a power steering control valve, gm uses these on alot of different vehicles, as well as other manufacturers. Considering what the internal seals actually do, they dont spin or have anything spining in them, they are more like a cylinder seal as opposed to a spinning shaft seal, they dont move or wear alot, im thinking its possible that the seals are loosing there flexibility which is causing them the leak, anyone tried? Or rebuilt the valve? Would like to hear some thoughts either way. Thanks.

I have re-sealed many of them over the years and it's usually just the o-ring seal that hardens and leaks. I just take it apart again and replace the o-ring only and that solves the problem for a long time.

Would you know what kit to get for a 78 vette? I havent hunted yet, but looks like there are more than one type or make.... Any insight?

I've put quite a lot of Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak into my system and it still leaks like a sieve so from my experience I'd say you're best off replacing the seal or getting a new control valve. I've got a new control valve just waiting to be installed when I get the time.
