Default antenna ground plate bolt size

What size is the bolt that attaches the ground strap to the antenna ground plate? Does the other end of the ground strap that attaches to the frame use the same bolt as the fuel/brake line clips?

I'm pretty sure it's a 5/16" but why are you asking? Are you having trouble taking the bolt out as none of your wrenches or sockets seem to fit?

Hi T,
Typically the antenna ground strap connection is to the inner side of the left frame rail using the same bolt that secures one of the rear lighting harness ground connection.
Regards,
Alan

The upper bolt is a hex head self-tapping type bolt.

Note the external star washer.

great that is what I was looking for. I removed an aftermarket type antenna and there was no antenna ground plate there. I'm putting it back to the way the factory did it.
Thanks

What holds the antenna ground plate up against the underside of the body? Is it glued on? I ask because I also do not have a ground plate on my 68.

Hi c,
The antenna base extends through the ground plate.
The base has 2 'tabs' on it that fit in grooves in the plate and traps the plate snugly against the underside of the rear deck when the large antenna hex nut is tightened in place.
The plate has some little rubber bumpers to prevent the plate from rattling against the fiberglass.
Regards,
Alan
