I finally got the headlights to open and close correctly on my 68, but a new issue has come up. When I pull the headlight switch the wiper door actuator activates to open the wiper door. When I push the headlight switch in and the headlights close the wiper door actuator remains in the same position. Anyone have any idea why it's doing this?

It must be plumbed EXACTLY like this chart shows: http://www.stingray.nu/bilder/vacuum.pdf
Any deviation from this chart will cause the problem you are describing.

Hi,
It's going to be difficult for Sully to route his vacuum hoses "exactly" like the link 71 VL provide since I don't think 68 cars had the 'wiper door safety switch' shown in the link. I also think that 68 cars had just a single relay for the headlight part of the system.
Are the connections to/from the wiper door override switch and tachometer housing mounted solenoid routed correctly?
Regards,
Alan
Perhaps this scheme from Willcox will be a more accurate guide.
Alan is correct the 68 doesn't have wiper door safety switch. I figured it out shortly after posting this. It turned out to be a bad wiper door relay. Thanks guys.

I accidentally provided the wrong link but just ignore the safety switch and plumb the rest of it the same. From what you're describing it sounds like you have your headlight and wiper door small hoses joined together and that's why they're both opening at the same time. Follow the schematic that Alan provided and you should find the problem.

Thanks. It's fixed and working properly now. I swapped out the original relay for a new one and all is well. I wish I had tested the old one before I put it on the car.
