I have a 1981 and was curious if the gas/ ethanol mix in today's fuel will have any negative impact on my engine/ fuel pump/ lines/ etc. I don't recall if there was such a fuel mix back then. Any thoughts?

Ethanol ol will do the same to the old clear fuel lines. I had a 80s still saw that got ruined about 5 years ago. Also had it happen to a couple of old weed wackers. Newer products have different fuel line's. I think the newer rubber hoses are made to withstand the alcohol
That nasty stuff will eat and destroy some carb parts, some fuel lines, some fuel pumps.
In other words, rubber parts. Go to Walley World and get a green bottle of Lucas EthanolSafeguard. Only takes a couple ounces per tank full. Great additive for winter storage.
Ethanol is worse when you store your power equipment with it, not as bad for daily use. The last few tanks before storage should always be ethanol free.
