What's the widest tires that you can put on stock wheels on a C3?

Years ago I had 255/60-15's on all four corners of a 1976.

Thanks Scotty. I wonder if they make a after market wheel that would except a wider tire?
I'm used to the C5 Z wheels. They had 305s on it. I'm spinning the tires too much. Can't get out of the hole!

I have a set of AR61 outlaw wheels 15x8.5 3-5/8 BS and a 295/50/15 on them they just clear everything on the trailing arm, ebrake included but they stick out about an inch of the fender.

So how much for the four wheels? I was hoping to keep my original wheel covers. But I guess that's impossible?

Well i am into the set for $1200.00 with rubber mounting and balancing. I took them off the car and went back to the factory wheels and rubber.

I like the way they stick out of the fender. But I like the stock wheels. So I guess I'll have to go with the 255s. But thanks.

Yeah you have some obstacles with 15" wheels they have to be curved enough to clear the calliper and the e brake mount plus the leaf spring. It can be done with the combo i showed you.

Nothing wrong with stock wheels and 255/60/15 all around, thats how the cars were engineered to be.
