Default Does anyone know what this part is?

I'm installing a new ignition lock. When I pulled the steering wheel hub this piece fell apart. It was in between the hub and the lower horn contact. Looks like mabee the small end of the spring centerd on it Not sure. I don't see it on any of the drawings. Also I found the steering wheel hub was 45 degrees to the right off center. That's why my turn signals weren't canceling. All input is appreciated as usual.

That's the lock that is supposed to hold the c-clip in place. The c-clip that is inserted after the spring is compressed. The Corvette-only vendors have them.

Thanks Vette Lover. Isn't the c clip held in place by the groove in the shaft?

It is there to cover the c clip and surrounding metal from the horn contact spring.

The Cap
there should be a notch in the very top end of the steering shaft , that should be pointing straight up when your car wheels are straight forward .

Then (from memory, ) you should be able to put everything back on and end up with the steering wheel looking correct.

Thanks to all for the assist. Willcox has it so I ordered it. I'm surprised it isn't on any of Jim Shea's papers.

Got the ignition lock out fairly easy. It looks bubba's been in the steering column. Is there supposed to be a screw in between the 2 Phillips screws at about the 1 o'clock position?

I pulled one of these down about 2 years ago and put it back together and its still working !!!

are you asking if there's 3 screws to hold the signal cam unit in ?
if so I'm pretty sure there is , I do remember you can only get to one of the screws by putting the indicator stalk to one side (make a turn) .

I hope i'm helping

BTW , the pics look OK from here

No, unfortunately the picture is upside down 180 degrees. Rotate the picture and you
will see what I'm talking about.

Got the new ignition lock in and it's working good. I'm ready to install the steering wheel hub with the hash mark lining up with the mark on the shaft. My question is, since I used a puller to get the hub off do I use the nut that holds the hub on to install the hub or is there a installation tool like on a power steering pump to install the pulley. I don't want to damage or strech the shaft theads.

As always the knowledge base on this forum is priceless. The Captain
