Tonight I went for a drive with wife in my 72. We go to dinner and it won't start and it feels like I have no pedal. I look under and hood and you can see the pictures below. This is a brand new cable that I installed 2 weeks ago. It completely pulled out of the sleeve. I was curious if anyone else has had this happen with a new repro factory throttle cable. I guess I need to find a NOS one if the repro are like this. I fixed it enough to get home.
yes i had something similar happen with a repro cable from a vendor not long ago. although i noticed the loss in throttle travel before it got to the point where yours is at, that’s really bad!
a friend had a good original cable from his ‘72. i put that on and its been great. try to find an original if you can, or go with a universal.

Hi joey,
I'm curious.
From your photos I'm not sure what moved?
Did the sleeve crimped to the cable's shroud slip?, or did the black cover move?, or both?
Regards,
Alan
The sleeve did not move. It was the metal sheath that has the cable inside. The black covering just got balled up from the sheath sliding inside the sleeve. The sleeve is still attached well to the bracket. I ended up crimping the sleeve down on the sheath and it got me home.
basically the sleeve was not pressed on the sheath enough to keep it from sliding back and forward.
Hi Joey,
I see!
Compared to the original it appears the sleeve on the reproduction may not have been crimped at all?
Just a minor detail!!!!!

Alan
