Default Tire Softener Upper?

I recently bought a set wof wheels and tires that had been stored for several years. The tires have almost full tread depth so I'd like to use 'em up. But they are very hard due to age and consequently ride harshly and don't grip very well.
I read somewhere about a compound used by drag racers to soften the surface of drag slicks.
Is there a similar product that will soften up these old Goodyears?

These tires have been stored long enough to get hard? And your going to run them on your vette? Spring for some new ones. cheap insurance. My 2 cents

Dirt track racers also use a compound to soften up tires.

Tried to post a link -- didn't work.

Go to http://www.speedwaymotors.com and do a search on "tire treatment"
That is what the dirt track guys run.

Drag racers use something called VHT -- search around for that at http://www.jegs.com or http://www.summitracing.com
