I believe the steel side impact beams in both doors became standard equipment in 73.

Don't know the year they became standard on C3's but I can assure you the 82 being the last year of the C3 definitely has them...they would not have gone away since every year the safety gear increased, not eliminated....

Hi,
It's pretty easy to determine if the door has the impact beam in it because the end of the beam is visible.

1973 was the first year for the steel guard side impact beam placed in the doors. Here is a picture of what it looks like with the area Alan mentions above highlighted.
