Default Manualy set vents

Hi guys!
my first post here, I Will be making a restoration journal soon.
Proud owner of a 79' vette.
vette. Its my first C3 so I got loads of questions!
ill start by asking the first one here, can you manualy select the vents on a 79?
I know changing between blowing air on the screen, through the Dash vents,... Requires vacuüm normaly, but the previous owner must have cracked the vacuum switch. Its only 15$ for a replacement, but add shipping and import tax (in belgian) and it quickly becomes a 40$ part. Will be ordering one when I place A big order, but would be Nice to be able to demist the front windscreen in the meanwhile

Thanks in advance!

You can't manually select the vents... or pods.. but you can check the system by following the following diagram with a vacuum pump.

No you can not manually select your vents on your Corvette. IF by 'manually' you mean that you can....by your own hand...make a vent open and close. They are all vacuum controlled.

IF you have a bad vacuum swithc...or NO vacuum going to the vacuum switch that is attached to your A/C-Heater controls....then your air will blow out your defroster and on the floor...because that is the default GM chose so IF you lost vacuum....you can always defrost your windshield and get heat at your feet.
