Hey guys, new to the site and to Corvettes in general. Picked up a 80 model this past weekend and the bright lights do not work at all. Were do I start? Don't see a fuse for them. I know bulbs would be a start.. I'm gonna check voltage on the plug when I get home. Just wondering if its a common issue or if anyone else had this issue. Thanks in advance for the input.
Turn brights on with dimmer switch and with a meter or test light check for voltage at the pigtail for the lights
10-4 That's the plan when I get home from work.. Was wondering if the dim lights are supposed to go off when the brights come on or do they both stay on for brights? The dims go off when switching to bright currently. I was thinking they would all be on for brights.

Yes all four burn when the brights are on. Good luck.

Does the bright light indicator work? I've never looked at an '80's schematic. They should be related in some way. That should help you troubleshoot.
I agree, If it's not the bulbs (take them off and ohm them) the turn on the system and check for power at each plug then go from there.
Your car is so much different than mine so I can't comment on your headlight or turn signal/dimmer switches. I would think the circuit would be almost the same to get power through the switches to the lamps. If that's the case there isn't a fuse but a thermal breaker in the headlight switch. This will trip with high current flow as in turning on brights. Usually it will make the lights blink off an on though.

all 4 are lit. but the low beam filament on outboard lights goes off and high beam filament goes on. all 4 high beams all burnt out at same time is extremely unlikely. the power to the switch or switch itself most likely culprit. low beams burn out way before hi beams. they spend much more time on.

apparently it does. ok, you have a light green wire from firewall connector to the headlights. then it splits in 2 and feeds left and right lights. that splice is a possible failure point. see if you can find the light green wire. test for voltage and also feed it 12 volts and see if lights go on. another possibility is a bad ground.
OK I feel like a dumb ***, but In my defense. I picked the car sunday night and didn't try to put them on until I was on this really dark country road. Then when I hit the switch it went totally dark so I said OK I'll wait till I get home and play with it and was just happy to have low beams going home. So when I got home yesterday I started playing with them and actually got them to come on. I'm thinking my problem is the switch. I started switching back and forth and at first the low beam would go off and then hitting the switch again the highs would come on. Hitting it again and the lows would come on. After doing this 3 times, It started working correctly, going from low to high beam. Tried it a lil later and it did the same thing, but you have to pull back on the switch pretty hard to make them switch. I think I wasn't pulling back on the switch hard enough the first night.. If this continues I will replace the switch itself. On to my next issue... Blower motor... I will start a new thread on that shortly
Thank you all for your help
