2020 C3 of the Year Winner - Modified
Best???
OK-cost no object-
Detroit Speed- starts at $16K...
The best bang for the buck is to completely go through the stock system with quality parts....
Front $6K
Rear $10K

I went through Van Steel and switched over to coil overs front and rear.
The cost will depend on how much you want to upgrade and how you plan to drive your car.
For some the stock suspension works great, while for others we want more.
Van steel advised me what to upgrade for what I was planning and what to leave stock.

If you are looking for better handling and steering feel, I would begin with replacing your 15 inch wheels with either 17 or 18 inch wheels and putting on some lower profile ( 40 to 50 aspect ratio) performance tires.
Your 77 is 40 years old and probably needs to have a number of wear items replaced - from ball joints and tie rods to bushings and shocks. The wheels/tires will expose those areas and as you gradually replace/repair them, you'll get nothing but happier with your 77.

Economical: Replace worn out parts install 'smart struts' with 18" wheels
Budget friendly: VanSteel or RideTech basic systems
Not budget friendly: High end RideTech or Detroit Speed

I've got Ride-Tech Level II on my '66 (Same as C3) along with 18" Wheels/tires and the ride is the best I've ever had over many many years and Vettes. Very adjustable (easy).

It's curious that there is no spreader bar. I don't see anything that otherwise stiffens that area. I suppose one could always be added but it would seem they'd also address that weakness. It is a beautiful looking setup. I did my car around 2013. If this had been around or if I'd known about it I probably would have spent the cash while the body was off.
