Mine clear my hear shields fine. It is right at the rear where the door curves down that you can have an issue, especially if you have some slop in the hinges.

I'm going from memory when I put a set of Stahl's and Hooker tailpipes on mine about 30 years ago. I bent that tab 90* and bolted it from under the frame rail. There is a T shaped hole that I dropped a bolt and washer down through the T hole and used a rubber cushion on both sides of the tab.

Even with shields there is loads of room to clear the doors and the frame is still lower that the pipes.
