Spun a main last night!
Coming home from looking at the the windhshield frame, someone was being a retard, so I passed him. let off the gas and it felt like I had my brakes on. Then my oil pressure got funky. I babied it home and tore the pan off and found the carnage....... There is an large amount metal in the pan and pickup. The middle main bearing is torn all to rats_it. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
I have owned the car or 12 years and beat hell on it everytime I drove it, so it owes me nothing!
I guess I start the restoation a little early.

Any number of things can cause it but hard play and age, just like in humans, leads to broken parts. Better to have driven a car hard and broke than babied it and never had fun.

Sorry to hear the bad news, but now you have a reason to build/buy a new motor and have more HP and TQ to play with over the next 12 years! :D

The while you at its is a full rebuild of everything including the frame!

Yeah a frame off is starting should be back out in a couple of years, hoping for 400+cubic in smallblock, supercharged and fuel injected( 600-650hp) and a 6 gear. I'll probably settle on around 400-450hp carbed small block with a 4 speed though.......... The kid thing seems to drain your wallet greatly. I guess it all depends on if my boss ever decides to pay me what I'm worth.

Been there. except i destroyed 6. i was showing off the new exaust and had had it for 2 weeks. i knew redline was about 5700 so i was keeping it arround 4000. then it went out. that was horrible. at least you got 12 good years out of it! cant wait till that beast is done.

Excuse my ignorance on the subject, but can an engine be rebuilt after "spinning a main?" Or is it toast?
