Hey guys ...... thanks again for everybody’s help I have just finish painting the inside of the metal housing and the backside of the speedometer and tachometer from blue to white being that I am going to install red LEDs on my dash so I will see red instead of purple (blue/red=purple). The tachometer assembly is good but I am trying to put the speedometer together everything seems fine except for the stupid clip and the cable. It seems that the cable is just put in the square hole & the clip does nothing I have the clip and gasket between the mechanism and the metal housing while testing on old
Speedometer (bought new one) it was hard to put in & take out (rusty inside) but while pulling the cable out, the little plastic piece (red square) on the cable broke off. That i can see that spring clip does nothing.
can someone please help thank you very much again (Sorry 4 blurry pic) I think the rust in the hole is the reason for the difficulty of installing and uninstalling and the breakage of the cable (old speedo) This is new speedo with clip i belive it does nothing i tried putting the cable in with & without clip it does nothing. With the new speedo i can put it in but i can very easily pull it right out. Unlike old speedo that broke the plastic pullin it out with no clip I was gonna buy a new cable but not sure if i can just epoxy glue it together
Im trying to save $$$ when i can (this small cable is not cheap) maybe i can some how glue it together

Reason: Spelling
You can get a new inner cable pretty cheap- unless they changed, (probably have since the last one I did), the inner cable comes with a metal tip and a little tool to stake it on the cable after you cut it to length.
You might be able to drill your tip to the same size as your cable and epoxy it on, but who knows of it will hold. And is it really worth your time pulling the thing apart again?
A complete new cable and housing can be had for less than $30.
Is it Advice? Replace it with new.
Approval to try and glue it? Sure. It’s your time. May work. May not.
Let us us know how it works out

well its more like a two part question, is the spring clip doing anything, should i use it or not & 2nd should i replace the cable or repair it (if repaired then shoot me ideas if any) P.s. sorry for the confusion
p.p.s. If cable gets replaced should i purchase just cable or cable with casing & what casing is good i saw a few out there (metal, plastic or original) im not sure which one it is
thanks a bunch guys ill keep u posted on this as i do it

Oh ok. Yeah, the clip definitely does something. That cable is spinning constantly and to help keep it seated, that retainer clip holds it on to the back of the Speedo. I would think it’s possible it could torque loose in the right scenario. I got a cable from rockauto a few years back. Think I paid $45 or so. There are a few different lengths. Just measure yours. My retainer clip was metal. Plastic housing on the cable. Still works without issues.
If if you don’t mind installing it twice, use some epoxy to put back together and see what happens. Only took Munoz about 15 minutes to swap the cable when I did mine. Just got to reach up under the dash and have some good dexterity in your fingers.
