I'm completing the installation of parking brake cable. At the wheel end of the cable there is a rubber boot and spring before the ball on the cable end. There is a nylon cable guide inserted into an attachment point on the trailing arm. How should the spring be oriented relative to the nylon cable guide? Is all of the spring on one side or the other?
I believe the spring goes on the rear side of the nylon guide, between the guide and the ball.
Goes on the rear side between the nylon insert placed in the trailing arm bracket and the park brake actuator arm where the ball fits. When the park brake handle is pulled up...these springs compress .
Hi R,
I believe this is the typical placement of the rubber boot.
There's a little molded 'lip' on this type 'boot' that holds it in place as the cable inside it moves to set the brake.
Regards,
Alan

Thank you! Could not find a good description in the shop manual or AIM. Great information to assist in completing the project.
