I guess the best thing to do is rip it out and install a new engine harness.
It’s a wonder it drove. The ignition (red) wire was twisted and wrap-taped to the light green from the wiper. The wiper door safety switch works... but it also was twisted on.
never quite seen seen this level of half-@ssery.
It’s a wonder it ran. It’s a miracle it didn’t catch fire.
Dorian, I feel your pain brother. Can't tell you how many times I've found crap like this. And really, what do a couple of butt-connectors and some heat shrink cost to do it right?
Good find, good fix, good luck!
is that braided wire you're holding your resistance wire? If it is check to see how many volts your getting to the coil.Too many volts and you'll burn your points. If you're running an aftermarket dizzy with electronics you should run full volts.

I have no idea what that is. This came with a coil-in-cap style HEI. And yes. I think it’s best to yank it all...
Looks like time for some new wiring harnesses. My 69 had a lot of odds and ends like yours and I got lectric limited wiring harnesses and was very pleased with them.

Voltage is irrelevant. The resistor wire limits the current.
Hi DC3,
I think bubba does his BEST work with things electrical.
Regards,
Alan
It always seems electrical repairs bring out a unexplainable level of creativity when trying to solve a issue beyond one's capability. As Dirty Harry would say "a man's got know his limitations".
