I am accustomed to adjusting Hurst shifters but not my Corvette Muncie shifter. Currently all is fine with my linkage adjustment except the handle shaft hits the forward part of the console bezel opening in Reverse, 1st and 3rd gears. Can I adjust the linkages the same # of turns to bring the shift range rearward?
I'm not sure about this(been a long time since I set mine up) but on the brkt that attaches to the tranny there are 2 bolt holes, you might have yours in the wrong one. You could also hook your linkage up on the short throw arms of the shifter.

Here another thing you might try. Check your AIM UPC 7, B2 and you can see the bracket that the OEM shifter mounts too and how this bracket attaches to the frame. If you add one or two shim washers to the front vertical bolts between the bracket and the frame, you can angle the bracket back a bit which will give you some additional clearance between the shift stick and console plate. These shim washers are item 7 on the AIM. Hope this might help.
Yes, hitting in the forward 1, 3 or R shorten the rods equal thread length turns. Before you change any linkage count the number of turns to unthread the linkage bar so if you are unsuccessful you can return everything to the original starting point without father miss adjustment.
On the earlier C3's like the 68 and 69's there are two positions or holes on the shifter arms to attach the shifter rods. Not sure when it changed (or if it did) but it will apply to your 68. It will give you a short or long throw on the shifter. When I got my 69 the rods were still in the long throw or outer hole position on the arms but I can't remember if the reverse arm was the same as the forward 2 arms which have the 2 holes. You should also be able to shorten the reverse throw by just adjusting (lengthening) the reverse rod length and leaving the other two alone.

Hi 68,
"Can I adjust the linkages the same # of turns to bring the shift range rearward?"
No, not if you use the same holes on the transmission levers. This would have the affect of moving the transmission levers less of a distance so the gear wouldn't be fully engaged.
The Chassis Service Manual suggests shimming the forward 2 bolts on the shifter mounting bracket to tip the bracket rearward slightly which may give the shifter room to clear the shift plate.
Using the short shift holes on the transmission levers as has been suggested may be a solution for you depending how you like the shifter throw to feel.
Sometimes the problem is that the shifter console is mounted just a little bit to the rear from where it should be. That's pretty easy to have happen because the tilt of the center gauge bezel can put pressure on it to move rearward.

Alan
