Would anyone know if this water pump would work on new 383 stroker
I'm installing in my 79? https://www.ebay.com/itm/112689483043?ul_noapp=true
It is a short pump. He says the shaft is 3/4 and the snout that sticks out is 5/8.
The water pump I have now is Napa tfw 43104. Napa can't tell me any specs. Need pulleys to line up. Seems like this one would work.
Info says
SBC Chevy 283-350-383 Aluminum Short Water Pump Polished BPK-1004P.
Thanks
Hi, If I remember correctly, stock Corvette water pumps were short pumps and had a 3/4 'snout' instead of 5/8. Measure the pulley holes that you are going use. If you have the old pump to compare, that would be better.
If you are going to change pulleys, then check hole diameter and go from there.

Good luck.

So if I did use the polished pump worst case is I would have to buy new fan?? Just want to be sure pulleys line up.
Anytime you use an after-market part, the chance of things not lining up just like stock is always there, but a 'short' waterpump is a 'short' waterpump. Dimensions should be pretty close. If the pulleys need to be moved in or out to make everything line-up, they make shims to help with that, up to a point. The center hole on the pulley, etc needs to be the same size as the snout size. It helps locate the pulleys in the correct place when bolted up.
Good luck.
