C6 info/rumours
Many of you guys probably know more about the C6 rumours, but I just found this on lovecars.com:
C6- Will be a 2005, released in early 2004, will have exposed headlights, was held back because of concerns by Bob Lutz, new GM head of design. Remember that the designer for the C6 is the same designer that did the Butt Ugly Pontiac Aztec. Look to see 2 engine options. A 5.7 and a high performance 6.0 liter. Base engine will be 400Hp and 400 ft. lb torque, Z06 will be 425 and 420 ft. lb torque. Also OnStar, Navigational System option, HID Xenon headlight option, variable displacement, and better sound system.
Rollout will be almost the same as the C5, first a base model, then another new model the next year and then the Z06 equivalent for the next year.

If that is the direction they're going in, i'd like to see the front end. I've heard they're doing away with the hide-away headlights. Bad move IMHO. If they're going to go retro, great, but I think exposed headlights look stupid on modern sports cars (i.e., Porche Boxters, etc.).

Search in the C6 section for "Road and Track" it should come up. the front end of that pic is butt-ugly. looks nothing like a vette. the rest looks good though. its based off the pontiac solstice concept

damn, the vette and the viper almost look alike :lol: if they change the front end around a little bit it wont be that bad. I remember when the c5 came out i hated the look of the rear end but it grew on me. i could learn to like it,,,,,(if they change the front end)425hp i could really like it

I hope they stay away from a C3 retro thing. The C3 is sacred. Corvettes are suppose to be innovative. As long as the C6 styling is very original and fast, and it has four tail lights, I'll be happy.

Can any of us really be certain that the pictures we see are anything like what the C6 really will be?
If nothing else, holding back release of it sure is causing a lot of "Free Press" for Chevy! :chevy The anticipation factor alone will make it a huge success. People will want one, just to say they have one, not because they necisarrily love it. Don't ya think?

GM should hire the designers that changed the Tiburon from the ugliest pile of crap on the street to a so so looking pile of crap. :lol:
I have heard that the C6 will share the same platform as one of the sporty new Caddilacs, will be a front wheel drive and V6 powered. It will be a four seater ( the back seats will be for very small people ) and there will be a trunk, however not quite big enough for a set of golf clubs. The release has been delayed because they are trying to finish the design of the rear end this time.
