Default 1982 Crossfire engine build

Hello members, haven't been here in quite some time . I am looking to build my 82 crossfire corvette engine. I had an issue from corvette fever about how to build the engine to 350hp and keep it looking stock. I lost that issue of corvette fever. I know one item to upgrade was the intake due to its lack of airflow. I did purchase the Renegade aluminum intake which wasn't available tears ago when I bought the car. Does anyone have that issue laying around? It matched up the cam needed and many other parts . Thanks for any help

To get the most out of your '82 you need the Renegade, an '85 fuel pump, a healthier camshaft, and a set of 3.73's.

First off, let me say thank you for purchasing the Renegade manifold. There is a lot of things you can do, but are you aware that you will need to laptop tune the motor if you you switch to either the GM 1227747 or 1228746 ECM? They are the same ECM except the 1228746 has the provision for an IAT input.

The article is a little defiant in the fact that it doesn't mention what cam to use or head after you start modifying the system. Are you looking to get 350 at the motor or at the rear wheels? Also, the article fails to mention that you will need a HAM board and do other modifications to the ECM to make it work in an 82 or 84 corvette.

You can make the motor run well, it's just a matter of what you really want and how deep are your pockets. Good luck with your build.

And DO NOT forget that your hood is made to accept the air cleaner for your Cross-Fire engine. So the hood for a 1982 Corvette is for a 1982 corvette.

So if you plan to use an open air element air filter...you might find that you have to deal with the underside of your hood also.

I did not read the article..which may or may not have mentioned it.

And using heat gun and taking your time...you can remove the underside portion of the hood that was made to provide fresh air to the Cross-Fire air cleaner.

I went with two open air cleaners and just cut the hood opening to about 2' in diameter. So, air flows up into the underhood scoop and deposits over the top of the air cleaners.

I would definitely replace the stock, smogger heads with some Summit (DART) 152123s that will keep the SCR "CPU friendly" but flow/burn better -- under a Renegade of course.

Hopefully you are/were not using the stock ECM to control your mods? A EBL Flash II would be the answer to that issue and getting the motor to run properly. Now, you have to spend even more money. You can not do all kinds of mods and use the stock ECM...It WON'T work! If you need help, call me or PM me.

Buccaneer,

What investment will it take to make these again?

82's are hot and it may be a worthwhile conversation.
