Porting iron heads is a lost art. Those that can do it won't do it any more. Time consuming and EXPENSIVE! New aluminum AFR or Brodix. No Darts, no Eddys. Those 2 you might as well buy chinesium. Buy bare castings. Buy the valves you want, the locks, retainers, springs... Get them assembled by somebody you know and trust.

This thread is just fabulous. I am getting some great ideas to think about

As I stated, this car will be more performance based.
At 61, this will probably be my last major project, and I am really enjoying the process.
I do like the idea of being involved in the build of the engine.

That said, I am not linked to anything stock on this car.
I could use just the block, or I could put in a crate big block or LS
I am however under some financial constraints. $10k for an LS is too much for me

Weight is also a consideration. I want this car to handle, so the lighter I can make it the better, so aluminum heads are attractive.

Compression was mentioned. Right now the 350/350 has 11 to 1, and the previous 69 with that engine wasn't a fan of gas I was feeding it at times. LOL

your choice, the lazy way - crate motor,
or the right way and retain the original block/numbers.
This is my original block and heads.
All Original on the outside, all new components on the inside, 430hp.
69... Nice! What sort of compression and what are you running for camshaft?
