Exhaust System recommendations for my base 72
Muffler popped in my 72 so I am going to replace the whole system. I am keeping the exhaust manifolds and the motor is stock. I am wondering who is the favorite of the exhaust system vendors? Car is a driver and I don't necessarily care for it to sound like it has more of a motor than it has. So sounding stock is ideal. But I would like it to bolt up like its OEM with correct brackets/bends and such.
Thanks in advance!

Everyone will have a different opinion of what they like in a muffler sound. I personally like the stainless magnaflows. Classic sound but not too loud. There are sound clips on the magnaflow site and youtube.
I got mine from a Corvette Specific vendor (I believe it was Corvette Central?) and not generic so the mounting tabs were already welded on.

Hi Darren,
The aluminized welded original style exhaust systems that Corvette Central sells are really quite nice.
They fit well and are fairly easy to install even with the car raised no higher than on jack stands.
If you want a slightly more aggressive sound I believe the system can be made with 'off road' mufflers which result in more sound because they have one less baffle in them than the 'stock' muffler.
The systems are quite reasonably priced and if you watch the CC site you can buy the system while there's a free shipping special.... if you don't need it immediately.
Regards,
Alan

Alan, is this the one? I don't see the welded hanger bracket on the muffler. Hmmm...

Hi Darren,
It's really hard to see in that photo.
But I think I'm seeing the bracket in the' blur'.
I'd check to make absolutely sure, but I believe your showing the correct system for an automatic car.

Alan

I second Alan's recommendation on the N11 from CC. I put this on my stock 350 69 coupe. Easy install. Fit was perfect. Sounds stock with a hint of nasty!! You can really hear that Qjet open with this system!
