I've seen some information that seems to imply there were two posis used, one for 3.90 and below, one for 4.11 and above. This would mean we could use the 2.73s in the 3.70 unit, but I'd feel a lot better if some "Forum Experts" would confirm this before I tear into the project.
you might need a new posi unit, but its seems like the 2-3 was the same... im not sure though. is there any corvette specialists in your are you coiuld call? if not i can try a couple in mine.
Yes the 2.73 gears will fit a 3 series carrier. The 4 series was for 4.11 and higher. The 3.90 gear will fit a 3 series. They now make 4.11 gears tha twill fit a 3 series carrier also.
What with aftermarket gear sets these days, fitting all sorts of series carriers thay never came stock....I can't remember for sure, but my gut feeling is, that STOCK gearsets....your break point for a 3 series carrier was 2.73 to 3.55 , and 4 series carrier was 3.70 up.....so I don't think it will work.....
3.70 gears will fit a 3 series carrier. The 4 series carrier was not used until 4.11. I have 3.70 gears and they are on a 3 series carrier. GM gears on a GM carrier. They will fit. The 3.90 gears were not factory installed but you could get tehm over the counter. They also fit a 3 series carrier
