1974 From Carb to Finally Sniper EFI
After waiting over a half year due to back order, I just started my Sniper EFI conversion last week on my ZZ5. Will be using a Tanks inc.tank with in tank fuel pump regulated close to the tank with a filter regulator and feeding it with the 3/8s fuel line. so far so good as far as the installation goes. Its been fun. Hope it stays that way all the way through with a successful completion and start up. I'd like to thank forum member Dembo for posting pictures of his set up a while back which got me a good start. Stay tuned for more pictures any feedback is welcomed!!....

Very nice. Let us know how starting, idle, driveability, performance and mileage are affected from the change.

Does a '74 have a vented fuel cap? If not how are you going about venting the tank?
I want to do this soooooo bad. Please let us know how you like the Sniper because I'll eventually do this and I'm reading everything I can on the Sniper and FiTech systems.

Mid 71 they went from a vented tank cap to a non-vented tank cap. The pre- mid 71's vented via the gas cap. The mid 71 and up vent through the charcoal canister.
74 - non vented gas cap.
Non vented tank caps had a vapor liquid separator on the left side of the tank - that hooked to a vent fitting / line on the tank and the steel line to the Charcoal Canister.

I am considering putting it on my 73 496 and am doing the research now as well. I'm very interested in this thread and the OP's results.

Once these cars went to the fuel vapor recovery tank system, THAT became the vent for the fuel tank. Fuel cap was then non-vented.

I put a EFI system (MSD atomic) on my 69 GTO and I love it. It runs so smooth and gives instant response when you press the gas. I can easily light them up at 40mph if I'm not careful, haha! Just be aware that if it's like the MSD system, it takes a few starts for it to learn what the car needs and doesn't need.

Yes it does have a built in regulator but my return line would be too small and I want to minimize the use of hose all the way from engine to the tank.. this way it spills back to tank from about a foot away via Steel tubing.
