'72 base unit with automatic, full power and air conditioning. Did all '72's come with expansion tanks or was it an option? I don't have one....and am not necessarily looking for one either.

70-72 Base engine w/Automatic and/or A/C has no separate expansion tank.

It wasn't really a matter of being an option.
Certain engines and cars with certain options used different radiators...as Fred indicates.
Those cars that used aluminum radiators, which have no side tanks, required a separate expansion tank of some type... either aluminum or brass.
While those cars that used a copper radiator, which have side tanks as part of the radiator, don't require separate expansion tanks.
