Default Radio rebuild kits

Is anyone aware if any vendors sell parts to refresh your radio? Like push buttons, face plates, etc.?

Hi P,
I believe you'll find the larger vendors sell replacement ***** and spacers and also new lenses.
I'm unsure if anyone sells the face plate. I guess you could have yours re-plated if the condition warrants it.

Alan

Hi P,
You might try Jerry Rudbeck.
For many years he repaired original radios.
He may have some parts he can sell.

I'm not sure if he's still in business or not... but he's worth a call.

I just went through a restoration on an AM/FM radio removed from a 1973 and hunted for the buttons too, only to turn up empty handed on new replacements. Your best bet for those will be to find some nice used ones...mine were not bad so I ended up reusing them.

If you need to replace the overlay on your dial, I do have a word of caution for you: BEWARE! I ordered one from a vendor last week (it was their last in stock) and when I received it I found it was nothing more that a Xerox copy of one covered on both sides with packing tape to act as a laminate. Needless to say I called the vendor, explained to them what they had sent, and they happily returned my money.

As a side note, according to Tommy at Willcox, when these WERE being reproduced, they were a water based decal...NOT a Xerox copy of one! Please know, Willcox was NOT the vendor I dealt with, I called them after to see if they had any - which they do not.

As Alan said, *****, spacers, and lenses are all available. The needle (if sun faded and washed out) can easily be removed and restored yourself.

Regards,

Dave

I think that the '*****' will fit, but the other two pieces, don't exactly know what they are called, do not. Mine is a AM/FM Stereo, and so those two pieces for my radio have the wings/tabs on them, and the post holes are made to fit my posts, so that they will make adjustments in treble/bass and fade (left/right, I believe).
