I have been having vacuum problems with my new motor and decided to do a compression test. With carburator adjustments i got my vaccum from 5" to 12". At 5" the needles was bouncing quite erratically. Now it sits at 11" or 12" and just vibrates maybe .25". I have also been using some oil, and i'm not sure what is causing it. I found two of my intake bolts to be a little loose and tightened them. I can see a smoke color of some sort from the exhaust, but i think it may be from my lead additive. Anywho, i did a compression test and the results are as follows:
Cylinder lbs
#1 165
#2 165
#3 165
#4 170
#5 165
#6 167
#7 169
#8 Could not test (couldn't get to plug)
So do these number sound good? My compression is supposed to be
around 9.5-9.8:1. Everything check out?
Thanks for the input!
Re: Did a compression test, these numbers ok?! (VETDRMS)
I agree. Those numbers look really good. The variance between high and low is the most important part. If you have those numbers and good oil pressure, your golden.

I'm having the same vacuum issues however. Also for some reason it likes A LOT of timing to run smooth and have vacuum  Oil pressure is 70lbs at cruise and 35lbs at idle (600rpm).
I did not degree my cam when i installed it, also i checked the cam for the matching numbers with my card and couldn't find them anywhere?
Something tells me this saga isn't over.... :chevy
