While I was at the speed/machine shop today the owner was showing me a new motor they were putting together. They showed me the Champ Pans oil pan and talked about the good quality of the steel and welds. They said they have never had a fitment issue to the motors, said the pans are assembled in the USA and thought it might be an option for my 73 496 build.
I've never heard of Champ products and was wondering if anyone here on the forum has, have you used them, and had any fitment or clearance issues with cross members or steering.
If you run a Champ pan, what part numbers do you use?
Thanks
Champ has been around a long time..never had one in a C3 but w/others they seemed to do what they claimed. Just not marketed as heavily as the giants thats all.
Sure someone here will pipe in with a PN for you
My 69 got treated to a Champ oil pan. No fitment issues on the SBC 434. Also the price was an excellent incentive for purchase along with the extra oil capacity and baffles, you can't go wrong. T

I used them a bunch on C4's with SBC's and they make a good product.
Champ is mostly focused on the oval track market and that is why many regular people have not heard of them.
The CP208 it what I would use in a C3.... As it uses a stock core for the front half so there should be no steering linkage problems. It has a nice integral louvered windage tray, trap door and crank scraper. Honestly it's a much nicer product than many of the big name companies sell for these cars.

I really liked the quality of the pan I looked at yesterday.
So far all the feedback I received about their products has been positive.
I called their customer service number and they were helpful, knew their product and suggested the CP208, which has the 4.25 stroker clearance I need.
Thanks again, Greg
I have one on my BBC in a 68 with manual steering. From what I was told by the speed shop that I bought mine from, it will not work with standard power steering.
I have about 1/2" clearance between pan and center link. Hope this helps.
Don't think they make one for Corvettes with power steering.

Thanks, I will call their customer service and ask them about the standard power steering. They offered three different pans that would fit all had different depth and length sumps.
