77 A/C compressor question
Ok now that it is fall, it is time to convert the A/C to 134a. My compressor (an R4) has not worked this summer, so I bought a rebuilt one. When I look at the it, the diameter of the pully on the rebuilt one is smaller (about 5 1/2") then the older original one (about 6 1/2"), Since the diameter is smaller there is not enough adjustment to tighten the belt. So my question is do get a smaller belt, never a fun job or return the compressor and try to find one with the bigger pully?. A smaller pully will turn the compressor faster and is this needed for the 134a to work?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The bigger one is WAY more expensive.
I ran the smaller one for a couple months with no problems at all. I did have to use an appropriate size belt.
The one you have should work fine.
