I have removed my front suspension on my '69 to replace all the bushings and want to clean it up as I go. I am going to paint everything, but am unsure about what paint to use. I was leaning towards the POR-15, but after looking at a sample at a swap meet this weekend, I wasn't real impressed with the aesthetics. It looked brushed on. It has a very nice gloss and it is supposed to be very durable, but I want something that is going to not only last and withstand some road debris, but alos look very nice as well. I don't think I can get that out of a bomb can, so I am looking for some experience here on what you have used, good or bad.
Those came out really nice - and seemed to have lasted, too.
I like the finish on them - cool color.
However, I've decided to go with POR15 all the way. I've started using it on
my windshield frame repairs, and it's going well. You need to topcoat the
POR15, so light brush marks should get covered with a decent coat of Krylon.
I went with the silver POR15, so a black topcoat will show good coverage.
I did my suspension and frame with Omni single stage black. It looks great, and seems to be durable. I'll post some pictures if I can get my !#@$ scanner to work.
I bead blasted mine and epoxy primed it and used eastwoods chasis black for most of it .Cast iron gray for the cast iron parts and detail gray for some of the smaller stamped metal parts.Remember ,not everything is supposed to be black. If thats what you like ,then bolt it all together and go crazy with a spray can. :yesnod: :seeya
weird.. I've been painting lots of stuff in por-15...even my whole frame and I don't see brush strokes. Maybe its the brush ur using? Too much paint? I dunno.
