Default Sniper EFI conversion WBO2 sensor placement

I’m having an issue with WBO2 sensor compatibility. I’m looking into purchasing a Sniper EFI kit. I have a '76 Corvette with a big block & side pipes. 2-1/8” individual primaries to a 4” collector. My issue is the collector is total of 8” in length, and the side pipes slip over the collector. No seals, just one pipe slipping over another. Any ideas would be appreciated as to where I can locate my WBO2 sensor where it will not be compromised by outside air leaking into my exhaust? I’m not sure if placing the sensor into one single exhaust pipe would work as well vs into a collector? I know there wouldn’t be a leak from the individual pipe. Please help! And no, I’m not willing to change my exhaust setup.

Below is a link to my Photobucket account, so you can see what my issue is. Thanks in advance for any help!

Default on the collector

I got my sensor on the collector. you can see where the pipe slid into collector. It's about 4 O'clock since my frame wouldnt allow it to go closer to 3 o'clock . so far it's running great!! but I've had my sniper running for about a week only.

@redcruz

That’s exactly what I was hoping to see. Thank you so much for your reply! On your fuel system, did you use the stock pickup and return locations on your existing fuel tank? Or do you have a different setup?

Thanks for the reply guys. Did either of you go with the Holley Dual Sync distributor? If so how do you like it?

Typical instructions say to install a wideband with the wire end angled 10* up as a minimum. If you can't get the wire end higher, I would at least cut the sensor bung at an angle and install it lower down on the pipe so the sensor is level or with a slight wire end up angle. Try to avoid installing it with the wire end lower than the sensor end.

Here's a picture that illustrates the angle and how to get the sensor lower on the pipe.

I've seen pictures posted on this forum where someone installed the sensor similar to the picture to get it level or at a slight angle. I don't know who posted them though.

That's what I've always read about 'clocking' O2 sensors.
There are bungs available commercially that have an angle cut on them.

One of several choices.

I'm going to do this when I install the Sniper unit this spring.

I went with a LS filter regulator at the rear by the tank . That ways I wont need a return line all the way from front. I just capped off regulator at sniper unit.. The tank ,sending unit for gauge and pump came from tanks inc. It's a tank ready for fuel injection

I retained the Big Cap HEI. It's working great for me.
