You can not tighten up the spring. So do not even try. Just trying to save you the time and effort. The coil of the spring does not allow another turn on the regulator. TRUST ME..I have tried and it will not work.

Are you rolling your window up when the engine is running??? If you are trying to roll your window up and the engine is not running. What can happen...and it has happened to me...is that you are pulling power form the battery..and if you do this numerous times.....like when I am adjusting the window and stuff. You will find....like I did...that the window will not want to go all the way up by itself and needing help.

BUT...when the engine is running...the alternator is dong its job and that added power from teh alternator greatly helps out.

Also...depending on the w/strips at the pillar post and the door glass adjustment and IF the two large rollers that go in the vertical tracks. The window might go up all the way with the door open but will NOT when the door is shut...even with the engine running.

This problem can be due to loose vertical track rollers ( in and out play in them) and other adjustments putting the glass in a bind when it gets to the top. Do not be afraid to move the vertical tracks at the top due to the car is old and there is no guarantee that where the bolts were is where they need to be now. Just speaking from experience.

And if your door glass is all teh way up and you can tell that there is movement in the front/rear vertical track roller where it can move in and out. When you grab the glass and try to move it in and out and IF it is not solid... this is the beginning of the end because the glass is now not in a solid position due to this worn out roller and trying to get a wobbly door glass to follow a specific glide path...can take a lot of time...and IF these parts are worn...the door glass will have a mind of its own and do whatever it wants. Also speaking from experience.

Many people also push out too far on the felt adjusters trying to keep them tight against the glass and THIS can also cause the door glass to bind up.

Thanks, but it is a new regulator with a new spring.

This might be an older thread but read it before working my slides. I agree with Dub when it comes to spray lube and fiberglass. I used a different method than a rag though. I have a few guns with cleaning kits. I used a small caliber cleaning rod with wire brush to clean the tracks with window down and followed by a small soft cloth ball from the kit to apply new lubricant to track which worked very well.
