Default Installing window rollers question

Doing my search I see that this question has been asked numerous times. Problem is the older posts have the photo bucket pics that I cant see and others dont really answer the question. My other problem is I work alone so trying to hold the window regulator, balance it on a bolt or something to support the back of the roller and then try to peen the other side with a punch or something leaves me short a couple of set of hands!!

Right now I have the window regulator supported in my vice. I drilled out one of the rollers and have the new one sitting in there. I’m afraid to crack or break the plastic roller if I applet pressure on the back of it. Someone must of done these solo. Looking for suggestions on how to get these pressed on.

Thanks.

FOR WHAT THIS IS WORTH.

I use an air hammer. I do not hold it in a vise. I have it out on the shop floor. I have a thick block of steel on the floor that has a pin coming out of it that allows me to use a 3/8" socket that can slide around the plastic roller wheel and also slide down onto this pin. So it basically stays indexed. I hold the regulator lever and use the air hammer and peen the roller.

knowing that the pin in the roller wheel is ON the pin in my metal plate when I am air hammering it ...I am NOT damaging the roller wheel due to it is not being effected. Obviously the length of my socket and pin in the metal plate and have been figured out to make this work.

Whenever I have a job to do numerous times. I take the time to make fixtures or jigs.

Dub, that sounds like a good idea. I weld up something to hold the socket but what kind of bit do you use in the air hammer?

IF the shaft of the roller you are using is a tubular design . Then this is the type of set tool or cinching tool you will need to peen the rivet correctly
