Default Radiator hose needed

I need a lower hose for a 1971 LS5 454 non AC 4 speed car, unsure of the cooling system rating. Can some one give me a part number or recommend a supplier? I have tried Gates and one of the online Corvette suppliers and have not found a hose that fits correctly. Old hose has
D 09112 and 76EP75 EB on it. TIA John

The GM part number is 3947868. My 69 BB takes the same one and most of the Corvette supply houses have them.

Thanks

That is what I have. I believe an aftermarket radiator is the issue. I can not find any other options except to try the three AC pieces.

That does seem unusual that the hose won’t fit. It would make sense that the lower outlet on the radiator would be located in the same area as on the OEM radiator, but maybe not. What company makes the radiator that you have? I’d be interested to see if anyone else has had a similar problem.

I do not know the manufacturer of the radiator. It is for an automatic transmission. The problem is the lower outlet curves sharp towards the center of the radiator more so than any other photos I can find. There is not much room for the hose to begin with, adding to the problem. I am thinking the AC three pieces will give me some wiggle room. the 1968 427 hose looks more correct, but from what I can tell the 68 core is 22.5 inches and my core is 27.5.

I think a picture of the radiator lower outlet is needed for you to get the help you need.

That was going to be my question to the OP. Original Radiator???

I ended up going with a Dewitts in both a small block and a big block car because of the rad hose lower hose.

One of mine was a Champion - don't know the manufacture of the other one.

A work around?

Took a couple hoses I had laying around- cut them - duct taped them together at the correct angle. Then took my cobbled together hose with me to NAPA. The guy at NAPA lets me walk around and find a hose that will work.

I've done this several times with other cars and engine swaps.

Another way? Some SS exhaust pipe to attach two different sections.

That’s a pretty clever solution. It reminds me of the stock setup on my 44 ****** MB.

JPinAZ-

Here's what I found on the interweb-

Hose 76EP75 might be replaced by Goodyear 60880

Here's a post regarding a motorhome and somebody else's quest to find a replacement hose-

5th post-
http://www.fmcowners.com/mbbs22/foru...ew.asp?tid=582

Also make SURE you put the spring in the hose to keep it from collapsing

Hope that helps!!!

Thanks-

Here's my engine swap- using SS exhaust pipe. It also helps keep the hose from collapsing-

On the top hose - I used aluminum- so I could thread for a steam port hose.

Bottom hose I used 2" SS 45º exhaust pipe bend-

These come in handy to adapt different size hoses- at your local autoparts store for a few bucks.

Another trick is to use brass drain waste plumbing pipe ......much easier to get than stainless exhaust pipe, comes in bends too, or maybe a section of plumbing drain trap.....
