Default Holley DP / Proform Problem

Guys,

I read some of the reviews of the proform carb body, and they were all pretty favorable , so I went and bought one for my 650 DP holley.
Pretty easy swop out, but I seem to have basically ruined a good carb.
When the car sits I can smell gas, I look down the carb and all the throttle blades are wet...nothing is dripping from above, the float bowls are set correctly....I also noticed that the gasket between the body and the throttle plate is wet...as is the gasket between the carb and intake.
Any ideas? I am thinking that the body is not flat..or the throttle plate has now warped....just really annoying...
Any ideas/suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

cheers
nick

I got the proform body last May and have not had any problems with it. The only thing was when I installed it I noticed was that the bottom of secondary metering block was hitting the throttle plate casting at the boss for the pcv vacume port. I filed that area, on the throttle plate, down enough for the throttle plate to seal up to the main body and the metering block to seal to the main body. The metering blocks seem to sit lower on the proform body. I hope this helps.

I had noticed that...but I think I have worked out my problem.....

When I first started the car the float bowl level was too high, so I had fuel coming through the boosters.
I have a feeling the level is still a little too high, maybe not enuff to come through the boosters, but enuff to feed the idle circuit...its only a minute amount but its noticeable.
I think I need to lower the float bowls a little more.
