None, but quit a few have been retrofitted in place of TH350 or 400 trans. The last of the C3's had a 700-R4 fitted

None. BUT they will replace a th350 without any driveshaft shortening or other issues. The 700 requires more to get it to fit . I purchased th200 4r for my '81 from Art Carr at California Performance Transmission.
I love it.

I too installed a 200-4r. Very nice, 70 mph now under 2Krpms. You will need a locking torque converter and a little wiring to get it to lock and unlock. I used a vac switch (unlocks under heavy acceleration), a 5 second time delay circuit (stops chugging under lighter loads), all connected to the cruise control wire coming off the brake switch. I switched the internal 4th gear pressure switch to a NO switch so the wiring was done in the pan except for the main feed.

I had to re calibrate the speedo by changing the driven gear that is accessible from outside the transmission (where the cable goes in).

The 200-4R is [normally] a lighter duty trans than the 700-R4. But, both can be built to handle significant torque. The mid-80's Buick Grand National had a 200-4R trans, I believe; but it was built better than most of the vehicles that came stock from the factory with that trans.

Choice of which to use depends on what must be modified to swap out with present trans...and maybe with what is available to you. You might be able to work a trade-in swap for the O/D trans you want in exchange for your trans and $$$ at a local trans rebuilder. Just get the trans built to the level of power you are going to put through it.

In street driving the 700 has too much RPM drop 1-2 and gets irritating with a typical 3.21 rear ratio......

that is the reason I went with a 200 that I built myself.....all done right about ten years ago.....much better trans for the car.....

As I see it, a TH200 4R + 4.11 (or 3.70) is the best solution.

My 69 Coupe is SBC 427, TH200 4R and 3.70 rear.

How about a TH200-R4 in a C2 (replacing a powerglide). What are the issues ?

The Powerglide and TH350 are the same length. Therefore, the 200-4R could be installed with a new/modified cross member and reuse the driveshaft (I would have the u-joints replaced).

Then, you will have the adapter at carburetor and a new shift plate (possibly a shift detent plate replacement on shifter). I would also update the speedometer cable (a wear item).
