Sterring Ram
I need to replace my leaking 74's steering ram. I am somewhat handy & thinking of doing it myself. Should I replace the hoses if I do..... and is this something I want to mess with????? Amy words of advice?

I did mine last year in my quest to fix all leaks,no big deal to do,just kind of tight to work on,do one at at time as they are differant and can be easy to mix up...also use some tube box wrenches[I think thats what there called..made for working on flare fittings] and a small pipe wrench for the power steering pump fitting,and make sure you start threading them hand first and you'll be OK

Easy job. Replace the hoses also. You have two of the ends off and now is a good time to do it. Don't be surprised if the control valve starts leaking soon also. They seem to expire at about the same rate as the cylinder.

Not difficult. Lot's of help if yousearch. I put the car on Jack stands and took off the left fron wheel. The hardest part was getting the ball stud off. Pickel fork and big hammer worked. Flush a couple of quarts of fluid through to get all the crud out.
