Default Need some advise

had to replace my dipstick in my SBC today and after taking her out for a spin I noticed my eng temp gauge wasn't working anymore. I'm thinking maybe in the process of changing then oil stick tube I may have knocked off the wire clip to the temp sensor. If it is not something as simple as plugging it back on.( I haven't checked yet) Any advice as to removing and replacing the temp sender. It was working two days ago, now it's just dead. Wondering if there is any gotchas or is it a pretty straight forward task?

Hi f,
You don't mention what year your car is.
On most sb engines the sender for the temperature gauge is located in the left side head between the front pair of spark plugs.
The wire is typically encased in a heat protective sheath.
Maybe?

you probably disconnected or broke the wire going to the sensor. Have you looked in the area Alan provided?

Not yet but that is the area I had my shoplight hanging in. I may have pulled the wire when removing the light
