3933163. March 20 85. Over the counter or Mercruiser version of the 71 LS-6. Fairly sure casting essentially unchanged in 20 years, or even to current day OTC engine. Merc is now all fuel injection. Anyway, level is 1.2 inch above those Crusader valve covers that are for sale for 5 cents a lb. 4.3 above China wall in front. 5.8 above China wall in back. This is with no gaskets. So intake and valve cover will be a little higher. .050 or so.

Here is Victor. Rectangle version. 2.1 above same valve covers. 5.8 above China wall in front. I get 6 inches even in back China wall to carb flange. So they flattened the carb flange so the front of a holley carb is an inch higher and the back is 1/4 inch higher than the L-88. LS-6 Intake. I assume that will raise back of an air filter even more, but I also assume slant of the hood accounts for this.

Remember, the throttle body in that kit is about half as tall as a carb. That will help with hood clearance. I've been interested in that kit since they lowered the price.
Thanks for you help DerekDerek. After looking at your measurements and talking to the customer service guy at Edelbrock I think it will fit the L88 hood with air box. I may have to have the top of manifold shaved a little but not more than .50.
I am a little upset with Edelbrock. I talked to them and lowered the price because they are switching over to the Pro Flo 4. (Sounds like some minor upgrades.) They reduced the price and quickly sold out all stock. So until they are ready to release the Pro Flo 4 all we can do is wait. The customer service guy could not tell me when the 4 would be released or what the price would be. No one has the 3 in stock that I could find.
