Thats possible it started out as a store bought rebuild with lip seals. Leaked after a year. I bought o-ring conversion kit lasted 3 years. I think its a conspiracy caused by wilwood trying to get me to upgrade
Have the cores been sleeved in stainless steel? If so, are they Delco Moraine calipers? I have had O-ring pistons on my 68 for 15 years, no problem. Jerry
I went to the Wilwoods ~5.5 years ago after dealing with stock calipers and rebuilds for ~20 years. They have been wonderful. Haven't touched them since - even though I should probably go bleed them for brake fluid change purposes.

She sits from November to April. I try to go out to the garage about every 6 weeks and start and run her for about a 1/2 hour and pump the brakes a couple of times.

Well, I recommend the Wilwoods just because I quit having a those 2 decades worth of problems. A bit expensive, but I bought them on a group buy from this site so saved a little. The one thing that would make them better was if they made a combo-parking brake caliper for the rear. I asked them about that that(since they have a kit for other vehicles) but they did not(years ago) make that for the C-3 corvette--- that would be optimum just to get rid of that stock crappy parking brake.

Oh I hear you on the parking brake thing. I am still trying to adjust those to work properly. I think it would be easier just to pull out a wheel chock when parking on an incline
Could be many of the items already mentioned. I will say this that the O ring calipers are no guarantee that calipers will not leak. Myself and others have lip seal SS calipers that do not leak after YEARS of being on the car and no, I do not go out to the car and step on the pedal every few weeks in the winter to actuate the pistons. My VBP SS lip seal calipers have been on my car since 1985 and other than changing the brake fluid with Dot3/4 every 4-5 years, I do nothing to my brakes and have never had a leak. Car sits 99.99% of the time. Usually, a leaking caliper is caused by some other issues OR a wheel bearing in the rear out of spec.............Could it be a defective caliper not rebuilt properly? Sure, anything is possible...................
