Default Birdcage rebuild

I need to R&R a couple pieces of my birdcage. I have the replacement pieces from Paragon. I will remove the spot welds and reweld these pieces in. I see that the original pieces were spot welded and an adhesive was used. The best I can tell from my AIM is that it is adhesive 151 part number 9981098. Can someone point me in the right direction for a replacement for this adhesive? Not sure if it is there for an adhesive or a sealant or both. It is between the pieces that make up the birdcage.
Thanks in advance!!

Hi 73,
From the 'super' parts person.... Joe L.

It's a PRODUCTION-only item which wasn't available in SERVICE under that part number.

The GM #9981098, also known as "neoprene solvent cement", was a yellowish adhesive. It can be closely duplicated by using 3M Super Weatherstrip Cement, available at most auto supply stores.

Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan. I saw this same reference. Looking at the 3M super weatherstrip cement it seems to be to attach weatherstripping. The substance I am after goes between the pieces of metal that weld together to make up the birdcage. Specifically the upper corners under the window. Seems like maybe I am incorrect with the part number.
I was looking at 3M 38315 panel adhesive as the possible solution.
thoughts?

There are many panel adhesives far superior to the orig stuff. You have to be careful it isn't so superior it is too strong.
