sbc vortec intake
Hi,
I have friend that bought a 68 convertible with Edelbrock Vortec heads and intake in the car.
The intake is 2116 Carb. is Edelbrock 1406
The problem is, the hood can't be closed, the intake is to high.
What intake do you recommend?

Well, when all else fails, there is another option. If you are using a 14 X 3 aftermarket open style air cleaner, you can switch to a two inch high element. You will have to cut off some of the air cleaner stud. And somebody makes a 14 X 2.5" element also.

Three things I would also check if you havent are:
1. Spacer/gasket thickness between intake and carb.
2. Spacer, if any, between carb and air cleaner.
3. Air cleaner nut. When its close, a wing nut or bulky chrome bolt may be too much. I use a bolt instead of a stud to pull the assembly together.
