I just had a new clutch and pressure plate installed in my ‘76. Ever since, it’s very hard to get the shifter to cross over into reverse.
Prior to installing the new clutch, it would move over into the reverse section, (with the T handle pulled up), without any effort. Smooth as silk. But now, it’s very hard to get it to cross over.
is there an adjustment or something I’m missing? We didn’t move any of the rods, we just removed the clips and replaced them after reinstalling.
Any help would be appreciated.

I guess the most likely problem would be shifter rod adjustment. After any removal/install you should do this. Could be just a slight adjustment needed to get it to work right. Not sure how familiar you are with the linkages but there are adjustment nuts on all of the shift rods. I think the correct procedure is to remove the rod from the shift lever, then with the shift lever (on the trans), put it into gear, then get the rod to the correct length and install it onto the lever.
you remove the rods from the shift levers on the transmission case. Insert the proper size adjustment tool, just a flat piece of metal cut to a certain measurement, into the slot at the bottom of the shifter to align all the shifter plates and then adjust each rod at the transmission end so it smoothly goes back into the transmission case lever.
Since the factory shifters don't mount to the trans, any time you move or remove the trans you will need to verify the shifter adjustment since any slight changes to where the trans sits in relation to the shifter after removal and reinstall will affect the shifter linkage adjustment.
