Half of these people do not understand the question. The drive gear and the driven gear in the tranny are correct for the rear axle, as are the gears in the dash speedometer and the cable is fine. He just wants the inner face (MPH) swapped with the outer (KPH) face on the dash. Hence the decal over-lay that would reverse their appearance.

Yes, thank you. That's exactly what I'm asking. I'm sorry that I might not have made that clear.

Do they make something like this?

Thanks for the clarification. I did miss that. I was though having a lot more fun with the incorrect understanding

You can buy just the MPH face from most any vendor here. I think Corvette Central sells them for $50. but the only problem is your odometer is still going to be reading in kilometers. Not a big problem.

Default Speedo ???

Here is a FREE fix if you like,,, just get a free speedometer app for your smartphone , it uses GPS , and most have a cool heads-up desplay like the fancy new Vettes, , , I use one just for fun,,, other than that, I would pick up a used U S speedo and be done with it,,,,

I think the speedometer will still be reading in both, K & M. Just the numbers on the face will be reversed. I really doubt the gearing for the Canadian speedo has different part numbers and ratios, but maybe.

I would keep it like it is just to make the car stand out and be different. Just remember that 100 km is 60 mph.

I agree, for me is 60mph = 100km/h no big deal for me.

I agree! Which is why I asked. I found an image that confirms it. The top speed is the same for the 1981 (and 1980) Corvette, 85 mph or 140 kph indicated. I guarantee (but can't prove) that the gearing inside the speedometer, and more importantly inside the transmission, is the same.

So, the EASY fix is to just buy a replacement dash from a 1980 or 1981 US Corvette from eBay and swap the parts. That way you preserve the original part, and don't have to mess around with a sticker.

It may not be the CHEAPEST fix, but it won't be much. Check on this forum first, or post a WTB.
